Real Talk: Reclaiming Our Purpose as a Writing Community
After the 1-year anniversary celebration, we had some looking back to do.
We are chaotic, fun, and outstandingly unique. But honestly, it seems we're losing the point.
What happened to us supporting our books and giving writing tips? Stickers and memes took over.
There’s nothing wrong with a little fun—we all need to laugh between writing plot twists and battling writer’s block. But somewhere between the chaos and the laughter, we’ve started to drift from why this community was created in the first place: to grow as writers, support each other’s stories, and help each other thrive both creatively and publicly.
Some of our most active members have gone silent. New members are joining but wondering what they’ve walked into. And the core focus—our books—feels like background noise in a room where it should be center stage.
So, what’s next?
We're not shutting down the fun. (Relax, meme kings and queens, your crown is safe—for now.) But we are rebalancing.
Starting this month, we're rolling out:
- Focused Writing Challenges: To keep the spark of creativity alive and books moving forward.
- Support & Review Rounds: Where we read each other’s stories and actually comment—yes, even if it’s just a “this line hit hard.”
- Contests with Cool Prizes: From character interviews to book trailers, we’re encouraging everyone to show off their work in fun, productive ways.
- Recognition & Awards: For the most helpful, most active, most improved—you name it. Because encouragement matters.

We want everyone—new or old—to feel like this is a space where your book has value, your voice is heard, and your ideas are welcome.
We’ll still have our inside jokes and unserious chaos. That’s part of who we are. But from now on, the goal is to bring the fun with the focus—not instead of it.
Let’s get back on track together.
Because our stories matter.
Let’s get back on track!
ReplyDeleteWe strive for a community that offers book support as well as socialization to members. One can’t do without the other.
Yeah! I actually support this. Go, YWW! 💖
