Hey ๐ ( Since I don't know what to name this masterpiece)
Hiiiii! ๐
Yes, it’s me again, your runaway-but-returning friend. Honestly, I expected this holiday group chat to be booming with gist, memes, and maybe a sprinkle of chaos. But alas, silence. Cricket sound effects. Y’all are truly disappointing.
Meanwhile, let me not lie, my one-week getaway vacation was a straight-up banger. ๐ฅ I did the impossible—pushed my phone aside for an ENTIRE week (I deserve an award, maybe even a statue). And guess what? Not only did I return refreshed, but your girl came back with a crush too. ๐ฅฐ (Relax, I won’t spill all the tea… yet).
But beyond the enjoyment, something magical happened: I learned a lot about writing thanks to a great friend I met. And since I’m generous, I’ll share some of that wisdom with you. But before that, permit me a quick intermission.
First of all, a massive thank you to our dearest, gorgeous Auntie Omah. ๐ฅน The way you expressed your love for us—including me! (I’m still blushing, by the way). That day was beautiful, and it made me so nostalgic for all the times we had together. Honestly, you guys should just keep breaking my heart. I sent two whole hi messages and not one of you replied. Claps dramatically Well done. ๐
Anyway, let me return to my Ted Talk.
Things I Learned on My Vacation (Writer Edition ✍️)
Show, Don’t Tell:
Yes, I know, every writer hears this like a broken record. But I finally got it. It’s not just about sprinkling pretty words on the page—it’s about defining your characters. Do their lips quiver when they cry, or when they’re angry? Do their eyes dart around when they lie, or do they stare too much? These little details don’t just “spice things up,” they reveal the soul.
Movies Are Secret Writing Teachers:
I also discovered that watching movies is like free writing class with popcorn. ๐ฟ The way scenes are set, how emotions are conveyed without a single word—it’s all vivid storytelling. So yes, technically I was “working on my craft” while binge-watching films. Please respect my hustle.
So, dear friends, while you were ghosting me in the group chat, I was out there falling in love (kinda), stuffing my face with enjoyment, AND leveling up as a writer. I expect a standing ovation.
But seriously, I hope we can bring back those good old days of chatting, laughing, and hyping each other. My phone is back on now, and my fingers are itching to type nonsense with you all. Don’t disappoint me again, abeg.
Yours truly,
๐ค
Lovely to have you back ๐
